World Premier

Hello world!  Welcome to “True Life: The Independent Hustle”.  First off let me tell you who I am.  I go by the name of Nicar.  I am a producer, song writer, emcee and engineer (light weight).  I started writing back in 1999 and producing in 2000.  I was born in Philippines and moved to the Bay Area when I was 7 years old.  We moved round 4 different cities before we found our home in Mountian View.  Just like every independent artist in the music industry, I’ve been through a lot and I will document those experiences for y’all to see.

Nothing comes overnight!  A lot of these kids think record deals come with jewelry, whips, drugs and bitches.  And just because you’re a rapper doesn’t mean you’re above the law.  IT DOESN’T WORK LIKE THAT!  I wish MTV, VH1 and BET would document the hard work and perseverance that comes behind the music too.  They rarely show that aspect of the game and that’s one of the reasons why it’s so saturated…I’m not gonna act like I’m a superstar, act like I know everything or think I’m always right.  Just know that whatever I put on this blog is real!  I’m not a gangsta or a thug, I just deal with situations accordingly.  I am a person just like you except on top of the day job, I am a struggling musician.  Hopefully, all the independent artists and my fans can relate to what I am going through.

Up and Coming Material!

*SoCal Promo Tour – We leave the Bay on the March 22nd and come back on the 28th.  I have a show on the 24th at Dragon Fly and another show on the 27th at Palms Bar.  We’re bringin’ 1000 promotional CDs to pass out.  If you’re live in the area, check the dates and ride with us, it’s all good!  I will document the whole tour for y’all so you can visualize the hustle.

* International Tour: Philippines in June (GRAND HUSTLE!) – Tour dates are in the works, hopefully I’ll have time to blog my experiences as I go.  I’m hittin’ PI hard with CDs and currently working on dates where I can do shows and promote.

* First Solo Album “80’s Baby” – Release date TBD, you’ll get to see the process of creating this album. I’m already 3 songs deep.
