I sat down with Woody from Chaos Theory Music this morning. The office
was on Santa Monica, Colorado street. On the way to his office I saw
Sony BMG and Universal Records. The building were crazy, they looked
clean and offcial! Anyways, we met up with Woody in hopes to get my
music placed in film and television. Woody is the man that shops music
to clients. His biggest client is MTV.
The meeting went well, I filled out some paper work and handed him the
CD. We had the usual music industry talk. I asked him how to get my
foot in the door and land meetings with “important” people, people who
make decisions. He gave the same answer that I’ve been hearing from
everyone. He told me to just get out there! Mingle with people, go to
parties, meetings usually happen because you met a person who’s a friend
of a friend of a friend of a firend’s major artist and somehow you
worked your way in.
Chances of landing that meeting increases as you promote yourself
consistently. Going to a major label’s office and begging for a meeting
is difficult. Landing a meeting through that route is almost
impossible, I guess its possible, but chances are slim. The bottom line
is that when you meet with someone, your ish needs to be super top
notch! It was a good healthy meetng. We headed back to the hideout,
aka “Grandma’s house”.

We just hopped off stage…..45 mins later.
The crowd was tough. We performed “Get Down”. They labeled us as
“hyphy” all the way. Its all good, everyone that was there was either
a) performer b) producer c) promoter. There was a good 30-40 people. I
wouldn’t expect a bigger crowd on a Monday night. We tore it down
regardless, we gave it 110%. I got some good networking done and handed
out some CDs. This is US building it from the ground up. Thanks to
everyone who came out.
…let me rewind though…we were the 1st peoples up in that spot. I
had a feeling we were gonna get lost and we did just that. We had to
repark the car because we were off by a few blocks. Security gaurds
were probably the coolest peoples in there. The shows started an hour
late because everybody else was late on some hollywood shit (no pun
intended haha).
We came up on stage, I repped for the Bay and showed LA love right of
the bat. Some people in the crowd knew Big Rich so they showed some
love. Everybody else was like statues. I’ve done many shows like this,
where nobody moves even after 2-3 bands perform. Felt like people where
too good to move. Once again, tough crowd but they started to loosen up
after a few drinks. Its always hard opening up a show. But bottom
line, we networked and got a chance to rock the stage.
Shout out to Leon P and Pow (Blue magic promoters), Nonsense and thank
Royal for taking pics.
Tomorrow we have a TV show taping, The Rhino Room @ Pomona.
